Galentine’s Day for Mommy and Daughter

This year is my baby’s first Valentine’s Day and I love being a mom so much that even on this day, I want to start traditions with my girl. And so I thought a Galentine’s Day would be a fitting tradition for us! During the day, we will wear our Valentine’s Day-themed pajamas and do fun Valentine’s Day-themed activities. Then just before she goes to bed, she will have her date night with her dad!

Valentine’s Day has just become more exciting for me because now, I look forward to the whole day and not just a date night with the hubby. And I love that Target is my one-stop shop for (almost) everything I’ll need to make Galentine’s Day F-U-N for me and my little babe!

To kick off our Galentine’s Day, here’s an inspiration board of what we would wear and drink our drinks from while we do our fun activities:

Mama’s PJ’s from Amazon | Baby’s romper and headband set from Target | 1st Valentine’s Day bibs from Amazon | hearts mugs from Target | training sippy cup (comes in pack of 2) from Target

Now that we have our looks down, on to our Galentine’s Day activities! I had fun putting this together and can’t wait to do them with my girl and share with you.

1. Balloons!

Who doesn’t love balloons and bubbles? I’m sure my daughter would love them. So for the balloons, make sure that you put helium so they float. Tie a ribbon on the balloon and the other end on your baby’s ankle. To make it more fun, do the same on you except I will not tie the balloon on my ankle but instead my wrist.

2. Bubbles!

We haven’t tried this yet and we are excited to do so! We play a lot outdoors while we’re here in Hawaii so this will be a fun activity to do outside. She’s always been a curious baby but even more so now. Bubbles are such a fun activity for kids. Our friends with a toddler shared with us how much they enjoy playing bubbles. Make sure to get a non-toxic bubble solution like this one from Target.

3. Make Daddy a Card with Washable Paint

Full disclosure: the washable paint I shared above is for 12 months old and older. But since this will be a Galentine’s Day activity wherein I’ll be making the card with my daughter, I thought it would be okay to use this paint for 6 months old as long as their supervised well. This activity would be carried on for years, we will always make daddy a handmade card! I personally love greetings cards especially personalized ones. This will be a great tradition to start with our daughter!

4. DIY Sensory Jello Bin

Okay so there’s a bit of prep work to be done with this activity but I think baby girl would just love this! Here’s a step-by-step on how to create this sensory jello bin:

  1. Make the gelatin based on the box instructions.
  2. Put the gelatin in the small plastic bin.
  3. While the gelatin is still liquid, add heart-shaped toys and let the toys completely sink in. Choose large toys so there are no choking hazard.
  4. Let the gelatin set per box instructions.
  5. Let baby “dig” the toys from the gelatin! Make sure to keep an eye on baby if you don’t want them to eat the gelatin. IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a risk of choking if babies eat gelatin. Watch your babies and kids like a hawk if you decide to make this sensory jello bin.

I’m so excited to think of activities for our Galentine’s Day each year. A few ideas I have in mind for next year when she’s a toddler and for when she’s bigger are decorating cookies, baking cupcakes, and more handmade cards for daddy!

I hope you enjoy this content as much as I did creating it! And if you have other ideas on how to celebrate Galentine’s Day with a 6-month old baby, let me know! We’re still 10 days away from Valentine’s Day so we have time to prepare.

You got this, mama!
