Happy February everyone and welcome to the love month! Okay so let’s be real, aren’t we all thinking of what can we do at home to celebrate Valentine’s Day with our partner? I mean, I know I am because of COVID.
But other than that, this year will be the first Valentine’s Day that me and my husband are celebrating as parents! So finding creative ways to reconnect at home during this pandemic-era and becoming new parents is so important for us.
Here are some at-home date ideas I’m choosing from on what to do for our Valentine’s Day. Since now our time is essentially borrowed from our daughter, I thought that we could have a fun and romantic night with any of these 4 date ideas.
1. Not-Your-Ordinary Movie Night
Okay, so really, how can a movie night not be ordinary? Here’s a few ideas that could spice up your ordinary movie night.
- If you can’t agree on a movie, write down 3-5 movies each and place them in a bowl or jar, then draw from it. And you can keep this movie “bank” for your other movie date nights.
- Take all the blankets, comforters, duvets, pillows you have in your bedroom and place them on the floor in front of the TV making a giant laying area for you and your partner. Have fun with it, just throw them on the floor and make it comfy for you and your partner. The idea is to not just sit on the couch or lay on the bed while watching the movie.
- Maybe instead of just popcorn, have an indoor picnic dinner while watching the movie. Or have wine & cheese, or order in sushi. The choices are endless!

Bonus idea! If you want to make it spicy, watch the movie in your undies but do this at your own risk if you have kids! Maybe you’ll end up not finishing the movie, if you know what I mean. *wink*
2. Get the Adventure Challenge: Couples Edition Book and Pick an Adventure for the Day!
We got ours as a gift and frankly, we might pick an adventure on Valentine’s Day to start on this book! We slept on this but honestly, it looks like a lot of creative fun that we gifted our other couple friends this book! Basically, the idea is that all the adventures are hidden until you and your partner are ready to do it. Each adventure only gives you hints like how long it could take to complete the adventure, how much it could cost you, and what time of the day you should do it. It’s already exciting because it’s a mystery. Really all you gotta do as a couple is to COMMIT to the adventure!
There are tons of adventures to do at home or indoors. You’ll find an icon of a solid-colored house or house with people in it next to the adventure that indicates it’s an indoor activity.

Now I don’t think you really need to have a polaroid camera that prints photos right away, that’s a good bonus but just create a folder on your phone photo gallery and store your adventure photos there! Cheaper and easily accessible.
I suggest to get the book first before Valentines Day so you’re all set. You can either buy it on Amazon or The Adventure Challenge website directly. The best part is that you get to do more date days and nights with this book, not just on Valentines Day! It’s a gift that keeps on giving!
3. At-Home Spa Date with a DIY Couple Spa Night Kit All from Target
This is the perfect at-home date idea for people who love going to spas and getting massages. First thing to do is to put together a spa kit! Here are some items that you will need in your couple spa kit and you’ll find them all at Target!:

>> A Very Relaxing Scented Candle
Start off your spa date night at home with a very relaxing scented candle that you and your partner both like. This Lavender + Eucalyptus candle has a very calming scent, perfect for a spa night. Add some relaxing and romantic music to set the mood. Dim the lights too if possible!
>> Really Good Face Scrub
I personally love the classic St. Ives Apricot facial scrub and other St. Ives scrubs too. I use them twice a week and really renews my face that it feels very smooth. But definitely use your favorite facial scrub that you and your partner can both use!
>> Facial Face Masks
I’m always down for a good detoxifying clay mask like this Burt’s Bees one. But I do love hydrating and moisturizing facial masks too like these Avatara ones from Target! Honestly, Target has tons of affordable choices of facial masks! Another place I get my facial masks from is Nature Republic. But whatever facial mask you use, make sure you and your partner will both enjoy and like it.
>> Bath Bomb or Bubble Bath or Both!
Have fun with this! Target has some Da Bomb Valentine’s Day-themed bath bombs that you can choose from. If you’re not into bath bombs, go classic with just a bubble bath with Dr. Teal’s Foaming Bath. Or put both to make it more relaxing! A bubble bath for two is always a sexy at-home date idea you can do literally anytime of the day, the week, the month, the year!
>> Massage Oil
And finally end the night with a massage. I personally do not like massages so I’ll be my hubby’s masseuse. A body oil makes the whole experience very spa-like. This Dr. Teal’s moisturizing body oil looks very inviting and I honestly feel like I can smell it just by looking at it. Another highly recommended one that I am very curious to try is this SheaMoisture Coconut and Hibiscus body and massage oil. It’s even more perfect when you live in Hawaii. A massage is always, always sexy and can definitely lead to a not-so-relaxing activity *wink!*
4. A Fancy Dinner Date At Home
I personally love Valentine’s Day dinner date at home. I don’t think my husband and I ever went out on Valentine’s Day – the restaurants are always packed and the vibe just isn’t intimate enough. I suggest to go all out with this one if you can. Cook together, dress up in your fancy clothes, get an expensive bottle of wine, play some music and slow dance. Of course this could be challenging with kids but I think the effort itself will make it fun and memorable.

The idea really is to reconnect with each other. I learned that becoming parents can really affect your relationship but then again, if you and your partner put in the work to reconnect, remind each other of reasons you love each other, and try to be present in each other’s lives, becoming parents can be the greatest adventure you take on together.
I hope you lovelies have a wonderful and safe Valentine’s Day celebration!
You got this, mama!
